L'Oreal UV Perfect Matte & Fresh SPF 50

Image
This is a sunscreen from L'Oreal. I got this picture from the L'Oreal website. My friend Jamie introduced this to me. My exact words to her was I want something affordable and something that wouldn't make my face shiny. She took me to the L'Oreal section of the aisle at Watsons and showed me this. She told me that she usually uses this as a top-up after wudhu after noon prayers. I was worried about acne but she assured me that she has no problem with acne while using this product. This is a chemical sunscreen and the active ingredient is mexoryl. Mexoryl has been around for quite some time, relatively cheap and is very effective as sun protection. Because it is a chemical sunscreen, it does not have that white cast on your face after you put it on. So, that's a plus for me. I find that physical sunscreen quite annoying because of the white cast.  So, I got this for the very affordable price of aroud RM 26. The bottle is very thin and light, you could just chuck it

Another Ramadan is here (1441H)

I almost couldn’t believe it when I saw that the last time I updated this blog was last Ramadan. Now another Ramadan is here. The past year has been quite tumultuous but things are much more peaceful and calm right now, at least for me. As I am writing this, it is the fourth day of the Phase 4 Movement Control Order imposed on Malaysians to control the spread of Covid 19. I have been spending the MCO days in Perlis. We got here a day before Phase 1 MCO began and decided to stay here until the end of the MCO. Little did we know that the MCO would be extended until the 4th phase, totalling 8 weeks in all. Why didn’t we go back? The first phase of the MCO, things were quite chaotic. We failed to get refunds for our flight tickets. We were meant to travel back to KK right after the midterm school holiday ends. We’ve got friends who experienced the same thing and tried to get new tickets. Those who managed to purchase tickets experienced multiple delays (days) and that deterred me f

27 Ramadhan 1440H

Blurry but this is the best photo that I have of the kids and myself today. And today is also a very special day because..... 🙂 Ramadhan coming to a close and so far we have enjoyed our 1 week plus of holiday. Another week to go. Kids seem to like Seremban very much and I got lots of break because they don't need as much attention. I feel very well rested because it's much cooler here than our house in Gayang. Kids are ran down with some kind of skin allergy but nothing too serious. It's very nice here. I wish we could go back here more often.

To be the bigger person

I find it to be such a challenge. That is, to be the bigger person. When your heart aches and your world yanked out from beneath your feet, it is hard to be generous. I miss the girl I was. I was always unbending and relentlessly righteous. No qualms about doing what's right, even at the cost of a great personal sacrifice on my part. Years ago, I lost something. Afterwards, it came back. There's a saying about letting go of something and it coming back means it's destined for you. How about when it's wrenched away again. I want to be the bigger person. Someone who turns the other cheek. It's just that I haven't been tough on myself for a while. I need the practice for whatever it is that's to come. If anyone is reading this, please pray for me. Pray that I have the wisdom to see things as it is and the strength to do the right things.

Of distractions and procrastination

Somehow I managed to remember to login to blogger tonight. Tonight is a rare night where it is quiet in the house. My son is asleep and my daughter is watching Peppa Pig. How time flies. It is almost the end of 2018. I thought i would have written more. The older I get, the faster time seems to go past and moments fall like sand through my fingers. There are things like the scare we got when my grandmother was admitted to the hospital right before the Kaamatan holidays, my sisters going off to uni, the birth of my first niece and my son getting his first dental filling. I think there are too much distraction in modern living. Or perhaps this is just my excuse for not writing more.

Our Arau - KL Central ETS adventure

Image
We decided to take the ETS just so that the kids could experience a train ride. I thought it would be nicer than a bus because the kids could move around. We took a train from Arau and stopped at KL Central. From there, we took the KTM commuter service to Seremban.  My kids couldn't sit still so I took them to explore the length of the train.  The cafe coach offers a number of microwaveable selections that my kids like.  I ordered chicken lasagna. After I was full of lasagna, almost midway through the trip the train staff distributed free meals, biscuits and soy drinks, that my kids like very much. We didn't get much photo opportunity, we had our hands full with the kids.

A mother's dilemma

I always have a notebook with me whereever I go since forever. Now, I have to choose between a diaper or a notebook 😅
